JC Sawyer's Science Fair
It’s that time of year again! Your child should be receiving a Science Fair packet from his/her Science teacher sometime in October. In that packet there are several things that will guide your child through the Science Fair process. (All materials in the student packet are also attached below, except for the Due Date form. That form varies based on the grade level.)
Students are encouraged to complete individual projects, but they are allowed to work with a partner. Please understand that if your child chooses to work with a partner then you will be responsible for arranging time for your child and his/her partner to work together outside of school. Any Science Fair projects that have more than two students on a team cannot be judged for the district, regional, or state level Science Fair. NO Elementary Projects involving the culturing of Microorganisms are allowed at any level of competition. Microorganisms include, but are not limited to: bacteria, fungi (including molds), viruses, viroids, prions, rickettsia, and parasites.
JC Sawyer's Science Fair will be held on Friday, January 27th, 2012. All projects MUST be at school on Thursday, January 26th. This will allow us time to have all projects set up and ready to be judged that Friday morning. Students are welcome to turn in their projects early.
Please see the tab on this page for some great websites that will help your child with their Science Fair project.
Another great resource is Port Discover Center located on Main Street in Elizabeth City. They will be offering Science Fair workshops for students throughout the next couple of months. Please visit their website for additional information about these workshops for students. Their website is: http://www.portdiscover.net/index.html
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or your child’s Science teacher.
