Literature Circles is a flexible grouping strategy that incorporates independent reading and cooperative learning. Literature Circles are small, temporary discussion groups who have chosen to read the same novel. Each member has a specific job to complete each week. Jobs rotate each week so that your child will have the opportunity to have at least 4 of the 5 different jobs relating to their book. The students have been taught the different jobs involved with Literature Circles. We are requiring that students turn in their first draft of their literature circle jobs each Wednesday. We will provide feedback on jobs and return to students on Thursday to correct and have ready for groups on Friday. It is important for your student to come prepared every Friday with his/her job, plastic bag & book ready to share in their group’s discussion. With this reading opportunity, your child will be expected to take ownership and responsibility in his/her learning. Please support this endeavor to differentiate and enhance the learning environment in which we are offering your child.
